Mal-Wart Day of Greeting
Union members and concerned citizens across the country took part in a Day of Greeting, sending a message to Wal-Mart and the people that work there that Wal-Mart workers have a right to unionize, receive fair wages and enjoy good working conditions.  Check out what took place Saturday morning @ Wal-Mart (this video is from BC).

Jonquière Wal-Mart closes - Local Residents send multinational symbolic message
To express their discontent with the unprecedented, unspeakable closure that put store "associates" on the street, local residents and union members posed for an aerial shot featuring the Smiley seen in Wal-Mart ads. UFCW Provincial Council Convention Held
The convention was held on April 15th and 16th, 2005 at the Education and Training Centre in Saskatoon. For details and pictures, Click Here.

Winners employees at the River City Mall location in Saskatoon have ratified a Closure Agreement.
The agreement guarantees all employees hours of work until the store closes on May 14th, 2005.  More Details.

Class Action Suit Launched Against Wal-Mart
Montréal law firm Adams Gareau filed a request in Superior Court for authorization to file a class action suit against Wal-Mart Canada Corp., which announced the closing of its store in Jonquière, Québec in February, after its employees received union certification.

The claimant, who is an employee of that town’s Wal-Mart store, will be laid off (along with 180 other store associates) when the store closes on May 6. He alleges that Wal-Mart exercised practices that violate fundamental rights that are guaranteed by the Quebec Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms. Full Press Release.
