The members of this unit have voted in favour of a new four-year Agreement.  Highlights include:

  • Each member receives a wage increase by 1.75% retroactive to April 1, 2006, and a $300 signing bonus.  The Agreement provides increases of 2% in each of the last three years.  Wages for these truck drivers will surpass $20.00 per hour over the term of the Agreement. 
  • There were a number of improvements to contract language such as incorporating by reference and for an Arbitration Board to have the ability to interpret and apply legislation.

  • Each employee’s annual sick leave credit (sick days an employee is entitled to in addition to the Short Term Disability plan) will increase from 48 hours per year to 60.  These sick days can now be converted to personal paid days that employees can use for purposes other than just short term illnesses, such as balancing work and family issues.

Congratulations to these members on their new Agreement.  The committee consisted of shop steward Duane Neufeld and Collective Bargaining Representative Don Logan.
