Members of this unit have recently ratified a new three year Collective Agreement. Highlights include:
Each full-time employee not yet at top rate receives a wage increase of 2.5% each year of the Agreement. All top full-time rates increase by 3% in Prince Albert and Yorkton and by 2.5% in Saskatoon and Regina.
Temporary (part-time) employees wage rates increase by 5.25% on the start rates in the first year, and by 4.4% in each of the following. Top rates increase by 3.8% in the first year and by 3.25% in the second and by 3.16% in the third. All first year wage increases are retroactive to October 1, 2006.
Language was clarified and improved upon: a new “reverse onus” clause pertaining to if employees have the ability or qualification to perform certain tasks, an arbitration board now has the power to interpret and apply employment related statutes as opposed to a member having to lay a complaint with a government agency, the grievance procedure was clarified and language ensuring all employees are protected for union activity was included in the new Agreement.
Benefits the company pay, including life insurance and pension, were improved.
Temporary (part-time) employees who have restricted their availability will be allowed to exercise seniority to claim shifts during periods of unavailability after employees who have declared themselves available for a particular shift have been offered that shift first.

A tentative Agreement was reached with this employer; ratification meetings were held in Yorkton, Regina, Saskatoon and Prince Albert in mid November. The Collective Agreement was ratified by the membership at these meetings. Details of the settlement to follow.

Tentative bargaining dates have been set for October 16 and17, and again on October 23, 24 and 25, 2006. We are in the midst of compiling bargaining proposals.
Just In - As this report was filed, a tentative memorandum of settlement was reached for these members. Ratification meetings will be held and a full report will be available soon.
