Bargaining began for these two units (Saskatoon and Regina), who provide food services to the Saskatoon Psychiatric Centre and at the Regina airport, on December 10 to 12, 2007, with the parties exchanging proposals and several non-monetary items being agreed upon. At the meetings held on January 29 and 30, 2008, the employer attempted to get these members to agree to an increase of between 20 and 25¢ per hour with no retroactive pay. However, with wages in service industries climbing rapidly and a good economy and higher minimum wages, these members are not prepared to accept a sub-standard deal. Further meeting dates were held on March 13 and 14, 2008.

The members employed at this unit have selected their Negotiating Committee, approved proposals and notice to bargain has been sent to the employer.

This Agreement will expire within the next few months. Members will receive requests to submit their bargaining proposals and meetings will be held to select Negotiation Committee members.
