From Negotiations report August, 2006
On June 27, 2006, the members of this unit ratified their new Collective Agreement. Highlights include:
Wage increases of 4.3%, 3.2% and 3% in each year of the Agreement with full back-pay on all hours;
Increases to the boot and clothing allowances;
Increases to the dental plan contribution rate;
New Group Life Insurance plan and Eye Care plan;
Paid rest breaks for the truck drivers;
Improved job security clauses.
The Negotiating Committee consisted of Byron Dukes, Neill Schneider, and assisted by Secretary Treasurer Norm Neault.
From Negotiations report April, 2006
The union and company Negotiating Committees met on January 25 to exchange proposals. Some discussion took place at that meeting and further dates were chosen. The committees met again on April 3 and 4 and were successful with negotiating changes to some of the language in the Agreement. The employer had put forth a significant number of rollbacks on the overtime provisions contained in the Collective Agreement, however, the union is seeking improvements. A few monetary items were discussed at this meeting as well. The parties will continue to negotiate. Dates have been tentatively set for late April and mid May. The union Negotiating Committee members are Bryon Dukes and Neill Schneider, assisted by Secretary Treasurer Norm Neault.
