From Negotiations report February, 2007
On February 25, 2007, the UFCW Local 1400 members at this new unit ratified their First Collective Agreement.
Highlights of this new Agreement include a workweek guarantee, pension provisions for members to enter into the Canadian Commercial Workers Pension Plan (CCWIPP), and improved cost sharing of benefits throughout the term of the Agreement.
A boot allowance, shift premiums and a job posting and training language are contained in this First Agreement.
A progressive wage scale was also agreed upon; members will see increases to their wages in the first year of the Agreement of between 50¢ and $2.50. In the next four years of the Agreement, there are wage increases across the scales of 2% in year two, 3% in year three, 2% in year four and 3% in year five.
Congratulations to the members of this unit on their excellent First Collective Agreement and to Bargaining Unit members Cindy Dunn and Scott Campbell who were assisted by President Paul Meinema.

Negotiations with this employer have taken place over a few meetings so far. Progress has been made with a fair number of clauses that have been agreed upon.
