Best Western Parkland Inn,
Yorkton
From Negotiations Report May, 2008
On December 14, 2007, members employed by the Parkland Inn in Yorkton ratified a new three-year Agreement, which expires on August 31, 2010. The new Agreement provides an immediate 60¢ per hour wage increase, retroactive to September 1, 2007. In addition, each member receives a 1% increase on January 1 and May 1, 2008, and a further 6% on May 1, 2009. These increases total approximately 14% to 18% over the term of the Agreement.
Other highlights of the Agreement include:
The employer will contribute 20¢ per hour into an RRSP fund once an employee has completed one year of employment and providing they also contribute 20¢ per hour into the RRSP.
Significant increases to employer contributions into the UFCW Dental Plan, paving the way for future benefit improvements to be made.
Special thanks to the hard working Negotiating Committee which consisted of members Derilee Boliziuk, Evelyn Lister and Jeff McReady. Collective Bargaining Representative Don Logan assisted the committee.
From Negotiations report December, 2007
Bargaining commenced on September 13 and continued on October 2 and 3, 2007. The employer tabled an extremely low opening wage offer at these meetings; we are hopeful the employer will be more serious about bargaining proposals when the parties meet on November 20 and 21, 2007.
From Negotiations report August, 2007
A meeting was held on July 16 where members finalized contract proposals and selected a Negotiating Committee. We expect that bargaining dates will be confirmed soon.
From Negotiations report May, 2007
This Agreement will expire within the next few months. Members will be contacted to submit bargaining proposals and meetings will be held to select a Negotiation Committee.
