From Negotiations report July, 2007
On June 20, 2007, the members employed at the Science Centre ratified their new three year Agreement which will expire on December 31, 2009. Highlights include:
All members in the higher paying grades receive a 3% wage increase and members in the lower paying grades receive wage increases that vary from 7% to 19% depending on where the employee is in the wage progression. All increases are retroactive to January 1, 2007.
All members receive a 3% increase on January 1, 2008 and 2009.
All full-time employees will commence earned days off (EDO’s) starting in July, 2007. Each full-time employee will have the ability to earn four EDO’s each year.
The new Family Day Statutory Holiday was written into the Collective Agreement.
Spouse’s grandparent was added to the listing of eligible family members in the compassionate leave clause.
Part-time employees will now earn sick days when they work an “average” of ten hours a week, up from 15 hours or greater to qualify.
Congratulations to these members on their good settlement. The Negotiation Committee consisted of Ellen Bouvier, Nathan Markwart, Jerrod Pryputniski, and Ryan Norheim, assisted by Collective Bargaining Representative Don Logan and Service Representative Darren Piper.

The first negotiation meetings with this employer took place on March 1 and 2 and April 5, 2007. We are scheduled to meet again on May 10 and 11.

This agreement expired at the end of 2006. Members at this unit have selected Negotiation Committees and prepared bargaining proposals. Bargaining dates with the employer will be set soon.

This Agreement will expire by the end of the year. Members of this unit will be selecting Negotiation Committee members and preparing bargaining proposals in the very near future.
